I'm trying to learn how to incorporate simple, popular, pre-existing card games into an educational, infectious disease themed game.

Along those lines, after much brain storming, I currently trying to merge gin rummy and infectious disease epidemiology together. Already tempted to make it more complicated than it probably needs to be, though, despite the initial desire to keep it simple and familiar to facilitate easy pickup...

We'll see how it goes!

Yeah sounds like a good start. Both mechanics are solid, and I always love it when there's a bit of learning built into the way the game plays. Plus, I'm pretty sure I've already forgotten everything I learned about the lysosomal storage diseases so I'll definitely be curious!

Hey I'm Scott Crabtree. I'm an associate professor of Infectious Disease at UC-Davis in California. I started making science-themed games, primarily infectious disease focused, as a hobby a few years ago. It was so much fun I've kept at it since. These days I mostly play tabletop games with friends. Anything complicated and thematic. :)

I am also a twit: https://twitter.com/PharmageddonG

I've previously had the joy of Kickstarting a game teaching antibiotics: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/pharmageddon/pharmageddon-bugs-vs-drugs

Hope to hear and learn from others!

Heh. Sounds like another neat thing to learn that I don't have time for... :)

Intros is locked by the way...

What's GDevelop? I mean, I can and just did Google it, but I've never heard of it before.

Meanwhile working on an infectious disease epidemiology themed game maybe...

Looks like there are a couple others of us. You think it's worth doing introductions or is that passe?

Just starting. Wasn't sure if this was still going on or not *grinning face*!
